Moving in Rancho Santa Fe

Where in Rancho Santa Fe do you move people?

All of Rancho Santa Fe: the Covenant and the Village, plus Fairbanks Ranch, The Bridges, Cielo and Whispering Palms. Our base is about 15 miles from the Village, roughly 23 minutes without traffic, and crews work 7 days a week from 7 AM to 7 PM. ZIP codes: 92067, 92091.

The Rancho Santa Fe Association says the historic Covenant covers roughly 10 square miles and is home to about 4,300 residents. Homes sit on large lots behind gates and long drives, and many hold art, wine and furniture that need a plan of their own. Several gated communities nearby share the 92067 and 92091 ZIP codes but sit outside the Covenant.

Local rules

What are the parking, container and HOA rules in Rancho Santa Fe?

Rancho Santa Fe is unincorporated San Diego County, so City of San Diego rules don’t apply. Inside the Covenant, the Rancho Santa Fe Association’s 1928 Protective Covenant is the governing document, and gated communities have their own associations. Anything placed in a county road needs a County encroachment permit.

The CovenantThe 1928 Protective Covenant is still the principal governing document for the original Rancho Santa Fe, administered by the RSF Association. Ask the Association about any rules for your move. Source 1 Source 2
Gated communitiesFairbanks Ranch, The Bridges, Cielo and similar communities run their own gates and set move hours. We send crew and truck details ahead when they ask.

Long private drivesWe check slope, turning room, gate width and overhead branches at the in-home walkthrough. If a full-size truck can’t get close, the plan goes into your Not-to-Exceed price.

Drive time, explained

How is drive time billed on a Rancho Santa Fe move?

Your written Not-to-Exceed price lists the drive between your two addresses with every other charge before move day. The Village to Fairbanks Ranch is about 6 minutes. Rancho Santa Fe to La Jolla is about 27 minutes.

We’re about 15 miles and 23 minutes from the Village in Sorrento Valley. Your written estimate lists drive time, fuel and labor after an in-home walkthrough.

On an estate, crew size matters more than the drive. A 5-bedroom home is usually 4 to 6 movers for 4 to 10 hours, $956 to $3,890 in labor.

Questions

Rancho Santa Fe moving questions

Short answers. Prices, booking, packing, storage and your rights are covered in full in our FAQ.

All moving questions
Can you coordinate a move with my estate manager or personal assistant?

Yes. We plan the move with whoever runs the house and send them the inventory, the schedule and the certificate of insurance. You approve the written Not-to-Exceed price.

How do you ensure the privacy and discretion of a move?

Our crews are full-time employees, not day laborers, and your schedule and address go only to the people working the move. If your home or community has its own privacy or access requirements, tell us at the walkthrough and we plan around them.

Are you equipped to move large, heavy items like sculptures or grand pianos?

Grand and upright pianos, yes, priced in writing before move day. For a large sculpture or another very heavy piece, we look at it during the walkthrough and tell you in writing how we’d move it, or that it needs a specialist.

How do you handle access on long, private driveways?

We check slope, turning room, gate width and overhead branches at the in-home walkthrough. If a full-size truck can’t get close, we plan the carry and the crew, and it’s in your Not-to-Exceed price.

How many movers does a Rancho Santa Fe estate move need, and what does it cost per hour?

Most estates take 4 to 6 movers: $239 an hour for 4 movers and a truck, $289 for 5, $339 for 6. A 5-bedroom home usually runs 4 to 10 hours, $956 to $3,890 in labor.

Can you store furniture in climate-controlled vaults between homes?

Yes. Vault storage is kept at 68–72°F, and loading into storage is $750 per truck. Storage units in San Diego County start at $245 a month.

Is Rancho Santa Fe part of the City of San Diego?
