Where in La Jolla do you move people?
Every part of La Jolla, from Bird Rock to La Jolla Farms, plus the UCSD area next door. Our base is about 7 miles from the Village, roughly 15 minutes without traffic, and crews work 7 days a week from 7 AM to 7 PM. ZIP codes: 92037.
La Jolla housing splits three ways, and each changes the plan. Village and Shores condos need elevator time and insurance paperwork. Bird Rock and Windansea homes need a place to park the truck. Hillside houses in Muirlands and on Mount Soledad need the right truck and a crew sized for the carry. The City of San Diego describes La Jolla as ocean bluffs, steep canyons and hillsides rising to Mount Soledad.

What are the parking, container and HOA rules in La Jolla?
La Jolla isn’t its own city. It’s a community of the City of San Diego, so City of San Diego rules apply: a container in the street or on the sidewalk needs a 7-day Traffic Control Permit. On a private driveway we found no permit rule. Condo buildings set their own move rules.

How is drive time billed on a La Jolla move?
Your written Not-to-Exceed price lists the drive between your two addresses with every other charge before move day. Most La Jolla moves are short: Bird Rock to La Jolla Shores is about 10 minutes. Moving inland to Scripps Ranch is about 20 minutes.
Our crews start about 7 miles away in Sorrento Valley, roughly 15 minutes from the Village. That short run sets your arrival window. It doesn’t change the rate, which is the same across San Diego County.
In La Jolla the clock is spent at the door more than on the road: elevator waits, steps from a hillside drive, a walk from the only legal parking spot. That’s why we price from a walkthrough and put the total in a Not-to-Exceed price.

What else should I know before moving in La Jolla?
Plan around UCSD’s late-September move-in, summer beach parking and the paperwork condo buildings ask for. Valuable art and antiques need a plan at the estimate, not on move day.

May through September is our busy season and La Jolla’s beach season. At the Shores, the Cove and Windansea, summer visitors take the street parking, so for a street-loaded move we suggest a weekday and an early start.
UCSD move-in
UC San Diego runs on quarters, so its move-in comes later than most campuses: general undergraduate move-in for fall 2026 is September 16–20. Campus housing follows UCSD’s rules. For off-campus apartments near campus, book about 3 weeks ahead.

What does a long-distance move from La Jolla cost?
Long-distance moves go on a dedicated truck at one price per city: Las Vegas $4,000, Phoenix $4,200, Salt Lake City $6,500, Dallas $10,600. Any other city: call (858) 633-8600 for today’s price. A shared truck costs $11 per cubic foot, 400 cubic feet minimum.

Can I store my things during a La Jolla move?
Yes. A One Stop container on your property is $99 a month (Standard, 8×8×5 ft) or $175 (Large, 8×8×7 ft), with 25 free boxes. Delivery, pickup and storage at our facility are quoted separately, in writing. Storage units in San Diego County start at $245 a month.
On a La Jolla street a container needs the City of San Diego’s 7-day Traffic Control Permit ($87.68 a week plus $87.68). On your driveway we found no permit rule; the hard part is a level spot and room for the delivery truck.

Containers are steel and weather-sealed, not climate-controlled, rented month to month. Vault storage is kept at 68–72°F.

What protects me on a California move?
California movers are licensed by the Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS), which took over on July 1, 2018. A mover may give a written estimate only after a visual inspection. Basic protection pays 60¢ per pound per article.
