A portable storage container is storage that comes to you: a company drops a box on your driveway, you load it, and the company later keeps it at home, takes it to its facility or delivers it to a new address without you unpacking anything. With a self-storage unit, the direction is reversed, and you bring your things to the box.
One Stop Moving & Storage, a San Diego mover since 2008, rents these containers. There are two sizes to choose from, measuring 5×8×8 ft and 7×8×8 ft: the smaller suits a room or two, the larger a small home. Both rent month to month and deliver anywhere in San Diego County, and moving a loaded container to our facility or a new address is one $150 round trip.

A container is built from steel, with weather seals to keep rain out and ventilation to let air move. It is made to sit out on an open driveway, rain or shine.
It is not climate controlled. Nothing inside heats or cools the air, so the temperature in the box follows the weather around it. Anything that heat or humidity would harm belongs in our climate-controlled vaulted storage instead, priced by the space you use; ask about it when you reserve.
The floor sits at ground level, so there is no ramp to push a dolly up and no tailgate to lift a dresser onto. The steel doors take your own padlock, which means the only key is yours.
Moving house. Pack the old home over a few weeks, then keep the container until the new one is ready. Moving with a container walks through it step by step.

A container is built for weather: it is steel, weather sealed and ventilated, so it can stay outside on your driveway through rain. Weatherproof is not the same as climate controlled, though. Nothing inside regulates heat or humidity, so ask about our climate-controlled vaulted storage for anything sensitive to either.
The main thing to keep out is anything that heat or humidity would damage, because the container is not climate controlled. Those items are better in our climate-controlled vaulted storage. For anything else you are unsure about, ask us about specific items when you reserve, and the office will answer before delivery.
