The short version: One Stop Moving & Storage rents a Standard 8×8×5 ft steel container for $99 a month and a Large 8×8×7 ft for $175, month to month, with 25 free boxes; delivery and pickup are quoted in writing before you book. Big Box Storage also lists one box at $99 a month, or $89 on a 12-month term. The differences are the box, who loads it and how delivery is priced, and Big Box wins on some of them.

The box
Same price, different box
On the base rental the price is the same: Big Box lists one container at $99 a month on its home page, and our Standard container is $99 a month. What you get for that $99 is where the two part ways.
Big Box Storage is a San Diego company that says it has been serving the area since 2003. One Stop Moving & Storage has worked in San Diego since 2008, as a licensed mover (CAL-190616, USDOT 1956864) that also rents its own containers.
Size first. Big Box gives each box exterior dimensions of 8 ft long, 5 ft wide and 7 ft high, which works out to 280 cubic feet, and says one box typically holds one room. Our Standard is 8 ft high, 8 ft deep and 5 ft wide, which works out to 320 cubic feet, so it is the larger box. Big Box also publishes a 2,000 lb weight limit per box.
Then material. Big Box’s home page describes “weather-proof wooden containers”, and its FAQ says a Big Box “is made of wood, which won’t rust or corrode”. Every One Stop container is all steel and weather-resistant, and locks with your own padlock.
More boxes or a bigger box? Big Box lists two boxes at $198 a month, or $178 on a 12-month term. Our Large container is 8×8×7 ft, 448 cubic feet, for $175 a month.

When Big Box is the better choice
Big Box costs less on long rentals and publishes a flat delivery price, so it is the better pick in four cases.
You will keep one box for a year. Big Box’s 12-month rate is $89 a month. We publish one monthly rate for the Standard, $99, whatever the term, so over a full year Big Box costs less in rent.
Your rental will run four months or longer. Big Box’s home page says new customers who commit to 4 months or more in its standard service area receive free initial delivery, and its FAQ says delivery and pickup are free with that commitment. Ours are quoted in writing for your address.
You need storage for hours or days. Big Box says you can keep a box “for hours, days, or weeks” and pay only for the boxes you actually use. A One Stop container rents by the month.
You are moving to Alaska or Hawaii. Big Box says it supports moves there. We ship to the 48 continental states.

When One Stop is the better choice
One Stop wins when you want a bigger steel box, a crew from the same company, or longer facility access.
You want more room for the same monthly price. The Standard container holds 320 cubic feet, against the 280 that Big Box’s exterior dimensions give.
You want steel. Every One Stop container is all steel and weather-resistant, and locks with your own padlock.
You want the same company to load it. Big Box’s FAQ says it “does not actually participate in the loading process” and points customers to moving companies it works with. Our own full-time crews load or pack your container, quoted separately in writing. One company delivers the box, packs it and answers for both.
One Standard is not enough. The Large container is 8×8×7 ft, with 448 cubic feet, for $175 a month. Each Big Box has the same 8×5×7 ft exterior, so more space means more boxes: two are listed at $198 a month.
You want longer visiting hours. Our facility is open by appointment Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM.
