Every 1-Box rents month to month, with no minimum term, a $0 deposit and no exit fee. The only limits on how long a container stays at your home come from your city or HOA, not from us.
You rent a 1-Box one month at a time. There is no minimum term to commit to, and you can end the rental in the first month or the tenth without a fee for leaving.
Ending it takes 24 hours' notice. We come to collect the container, and that trip is already paid for: the one-time $150 charge you pay at the start covers delivery and pickup together.
Before the container arrives, you can cancel a reservation free of charge up to 24 hours ahead of delivery. There is no deposit to lose either, because holding a container costs $0.
The price works the same way at any length. You pay the monthly rate, $99 for a Standard or $175 for a Large, plus one $150 delivery and pickup charge per rental, whatever the length. A one-month rental and a twelve-month rental carry the same delivery charge.
How long people keep one depends on the job. Most moving customers keep a container for one to three months; closing dates that do not line up are a common reason to hold it longer. Remodel customers often keep one for four to six months, because the work outlasts a move.
If the job runs over, there is nothing to renegotiate. The rental carries on into the next month until you give notice.
Our terms have no end date, but a city's can. In Chula Vista, a portable storage container in a residential zone must sit inside an existing driveway, one per lot, for no more than 30 consecutive days and 90 days in a calendar year, under CVMC 19.58.445. Confirm the limits with the city before you book.
In the City of San Diego, a container on the street or sidewalk needs a Traffic Control Permit, which lasts up to 7 days, under Information Bulletin 718. We found no city rule requiring a permit on a private driveway. Our driveway permits guide covers the details and the other cities we checked.
HOAs can add limits of their own, so read your CC&Rs if you have them. When a stay will outlast a local limit, plan for it from the start: the container can go to our facility for one $150 round trip and keep its monthly rate there. Or move your things into our climate-controlled vaulted storage at $225 a month.
